New Transatlantic Agenda

The aim of the New Transatlantic Agenda was to move from a relationship of consultation to a partnership for joint action. The NTA was to provide the political framework for establishing a new practice-oriented quality of cooperation. The Agenda envisaged cooperation in four areas:

  • promoting peace and stability, democracy and development around the world
  • responding to global challenges
  • contributing to the expansion of world trade and closer economic relations
  • building bridges across the Atlantic
