Csaky: Subsidiarity must be balanced

Pal Csaky (Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia) perceived in the integration of the Hungarian ethnic minority into the political system of Slovakia an instance of courageous application of the subsidiarity principle. In the meantime, the idea of regional administration had won through in Bratislava, also among those who had originally been against the principle, and Slovakian society had become more stable, particularly since more and more agendas were being transferred to smaller entities. According to Csaky, the task is now to maintain a reasonable balance and to ensure that application of the subsidiarity principle does not lead to blind nationalism and block the EU institutions.
