Platter receives military attachés

On 11 January 2006, Minister of Defence Günther Platter invited the foreign military attachés to the National Defence Academy (LVAk) to inform them of his programme for the Austrian Presidency of the EU.

The active continuation and further development of the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) will be one of the priorities.

The Austrian Presidency will pay particular attention to ESDP operations, civilian-military coordination and the development of military capabilities. Platter: “We must and will work hard on the European peace project, to this I am fully committed”.

In his speech “Operations management”, Platter explained the Austrian Presidency’s Balkans priority and said that Austria would benefit from the common European defence policy.

"Internal security through external security" was therefore the motto of the Ministry of Defence.
