Austria shows the way for European research

Conference on Security Research a great success – further high-level conferences scheduled

“With over 1,000 participants, the Conference on Security Research launched by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology during the EU Council Presidency was a huge success. Austria has been able to raise the profile of the important area of security research and to make it a key topic in European research policy”, State Secretary for Research Eduard Mainoni declared.

On 22 and 23 March, Vienna will be the focus of European research on information and communication technology: under Austrian leadership, the 25 Member States will be pointing the way for further research. Moreover, the “Graz Dialogue” will be held in Graz on 19 and 20 April. This GMES conference will seek to analyse the potential of space-based services.

The role of women in research is the topic of the conference on women researchers in science und technology. Strategies for increasing the number of women in industry-related research will be discussed in Vienna’s Museum Quarter on 15 and 16 June.

"Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Transport Hubert Gorbach will make road safety the main issue at the informal meeting of Transport Ministers in Bregenz on 2 and 3 March. In this area, Austria can point to its remarkable record: a 30% reduction in the number of deaths on the road over the past six years and the use of the latest traffic technology", stated Mainoni.
